NOXtec 1000: automatic/manual dosing and monitoring device for inhaled nitric oxide, with automatic cylinder exchange.
Nitric oxide (NO) is a gaseous vasodilator used primarily to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and delivered to the patient mixed with medical oxygen. NOXtec 1000 delivers a dose that remains stable throughout therapy and has an automatic cylinder exchange system.
It automatically calculates the dose flow required to reach the desired ppm concentration using a disposable respiratory flow sensor placed in the patient breathing circuit; alternatively, the dose rate can be set manually. By continuously sampling the NO-O2 mixture delivered to the patient, it monitors the nitric oxide concentration the patient receives and whether it stays within predetermined threshold values.
It also monitors trace amounts of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the mixture so that a predetermined threshold is not exceeded, and can calibrate the NO, NO2 and O2 sensors automatically even while dosing.
