NOXtec 2000: semi-automatic/manual dosing and monitoring device for inhaled nitric oxide.
Nitric oxide (NO) is a gaseous vasodilator used primarily to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and delivered to the patient mixed with medical oxygen. NOXtec 2000 delivers a dose that remains stable throughout therapy.
It semi-automatically calculates the dose flow required to reach the desired ppm concentration using a disposable respiratory flow sensor in the patient breathing circuit; alternatively the dose rate can be set manually.
By continuously sampling the NO-O2 mixture delivered to the patient, it monitors the nitric oxide concentration and whether it stays within predetermined threshold values, and also monitors trace amounts of nitrogen dioxide (NO2).
